I just stumbled across a bunch of dirty laundry about all the different RSS specifications. What a bunch of wasted time. I think the 1.0 folks should just change the stupid name. Name it RMS or something, it's even easier to say. No one outside of the developers really even CARES, they just want their software to work. If they change the name, it doesn't mean they can't still dislike Dave Winer.
For the record, I think Dave is being a jerk about the whole thing. The 1.0 folks' motivations started out being altruistic, from what I can gather. Sometimes from out here in lurkyland, it comes across more like Dave really DOESN'T want the name to change, and instead gets more satisfaction out of feeling indignant.
